Happy Father's Day

One year ago today, I remember giving Bill a children's book for Father's day.  I took time to write a letter to Evan about his daddy and how lucky he was to have Bill for a dad.  I was so excited about what the future held for us and was eager to see Bill take on the dad role.

Fast forward one year and Bill is a better dad than I could ever have imagined.  Bill has become very patient with Evan, taking time to teach him new things every day.  Not to mention that on weekends, Bill changes twice the diapers that I do, and that three to four times a week, he get up with Evan before the sunrise so that I can run with friends.  Perhaps most importantly is that Bill does twice as much around the house as he did before Evan was born, which was practically everything anyway. :)  I could go on and on, but in short, I am just so thankful for him!!

We had a great day today.  Church sponsored "summer days" with a fun family activity after service each Sunday in June.  Today was exotic animals.  So fun!! How many of you have ever rode a turtle??

Yea, well, Evan probably wouldn't have either if his mom wasn't so crazy!

As you can tell by these pictures, Bill is the adventurous one.  I preferred to use Evan as my shield from all potentially dangerous animals.  So brave, I know.

No, the wrinkled shirt has nothing to do with the fact that I am a new mom and everything to do with the fact that I am me. Do we even own an iron?  I'm not sure, ask Bill.

After church, lunch and a nap,  Evan and I decided to give Bill a couple hours to have the house all to himself.  In other words, we were kicked out. (only kidding, it was voluntary. sort of.)  We hit up Hafer park and after getting the necessary exercising in (aka me lugging a stroller in 90+ degree weather for 30 minutes), we stopped for a rest to watch the ducks.

I didn't think far enough in advance to bring bread, but did find a piece in the dirt that I used to lure the ducks closer so that Evan could easily see.  I wish I were kidding about digging in the dirt.

Last stop was the swings.  This kid loves to swing.

I think he was hoping for a nap while sunbathing and his mom pushing him for 45 minutes.  What he got was 10 minutes in the swing and a nap in the car.  I'm so generous.

After the park, we made a stop at Menchies, a new frozen yogurt place that I haven't had a chance to try.  I think these frozen yogurt joints put crack in the yogurt.  I haven't been to one since last summer, went two weekends ago, and here I am addicted.

We got home just in time to bath up, cook dinner and watch the OKC Thunder.  Whew, what a day!

First Mother's day

What a great weekend.  I love celebrating me! Just kidding.  Kind of.

Bill's parents came in this weekend for Mother's day and we had a great time.  On Friday night, I cooked taco salad and Bill's mom thought it was a goolash of leftovers.  It kind of was.  Welcome to our humble home. Please make your food selections from the following items that were cooked last week.  Thanks for coming. :)

On Saturday, we ate breakfast at this great little local restaurant.  I, of course, had oatmeal.  After breakfast, Bill's mom and I checked out the Edmond farmer's market and Sunflower market, a new grocery store.  The remaining Saturday was spent relaxing.  Saturday night the guys treated us to mother's day dinner at Cattleman's.  My dates were extra handsome:

Sunday was spent mainly relaxing.  In fact, Evan slept for  2 1/2 hours.  Happy Mother's Day to me. Perfect present little guy!  Bill bought me a beautiful necklace that I will try to take a picture of later.  Sorry, to lazy to get up tonight.

On a more exciting note, Bill and I have begun the preliminary steps to look at new cars.  Fun fun!

Easter Sunday

Holidays are so much more fun with a little one.  Mainly because I can force everyone to take pictures.  I'm pretty sure Bill and his mom were getting annoyed with me when I wouldn't let them change out of their church clothes for at least an hour after we got home.  We are the type to change immediately, heck I think I have even unbuttoned my pants a time or two on the way home. So not changing was a big deal. But it was so worth it. Here are a few for the photo books people.

Any questions as to who our lives revolve around?

Evan is so over it!

Evan got not one but two Easter baskets this year!  His Nana and Papaw got him a few bath toys, a ball (that he already loves to play with), and a pinwheel that we hold up for him to see.  He is going to know his colors in no time.  Bill and I got him Sophie the giraffe (who is worth a blog post all by herself, stay tuned) and a baby Einstein book.  Yes, he is reading all ready.  ;)

I am so thankful for my beautiful family.  God has blessed us beyond measure.

I am also thankful for my wonderful mother-in-law.

Anyone who knows David (Bill's stepdad) knows that he doesn't turn to mush easily.  Obviously this picture shows that Evan is the exception! :)

After pictures, we ate Easter lunch, which was very similar to every other after church lunch we have at Bill's parents. Bill grills and his mom and I cook veggies, etc.   I asked Bill to take a picture, and this is what he got:

No, I have no idea why he took a picture of half eaten food.  He was hungry, I guess.  Must have been all the pictures.

Bill and I also had a great visit with his dad's side of the family on Saturday night.  However, we were so caught up in catching up with everyone that we forgot to take any pictures.  I am beating myself up over that! There were so many that I wanted to get, especially with Evan and Bill's grandma.  Next time, we go we are going to make up for this huge error on my part.  Everyone wear your Easter clothes!

Lets Dye Some Eggs!

As many of you know, both Bill's sister and brother welcomed babies into their families last winter.  In fact, Payton and Evan share a birthday!!  In celebration of the babies first Easter, I thought it necessary to force these tiny tots to dye Easter eggs and take ridiculous pictures that I can use to embarrass them with later.  This should be a fun post!

Amber and her two girls, Bianca and Bailey, and Heather and her daughter Payton came over to Bill's mom's Saturday to partake in my Easter festivities.  First up was picture time:

What! We get to dye Easter eggs!!

The look on Payton's face in this one is priceless! Get these ears off of me right now!

Here Bailey, let me help you with that.

After the photo op, it was time to dye eggs.

It was also apparently time to pose for a Moby ad.

By the time all was said and done, we dyed 5 dozen Easter eggs.  My favorite was the one Bill put rubber bands around before placing into the dye (thank you pinterest).

We also tried the package of Marble dye.  Basically it is just regular dye with 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil. You stir them every 30 seconds or so.  I'm not sure, Bill did those.
We also did one with each of the babies names one it. I'm pretty sure that either me or Bill's stepdad ate Evan's egg before we could get a picture of him with it.  So, we had to use a substitute.

Sunday Easter activities - to be continued..... (sorry, Evan has decided that sleep is overated.  More on that topic later as well).
