Life is better with family

We had a great time visiting with Bill's mom and sister.  Evan loved being able to spend time with Nana and Aunt Nene.

They watched him Thursday and Friday while Bill and I were at work.  I heard that shopping and eating out took place and Evan has the new toys to prove it.

I took off a couple hours early on Friday since they were leaving early Saturday morning to head back to Little Rock.  Friday afternoon we headed to the park.

I am so glad that we are headed to Arkansas this Friday for Labor Day weekend. Spending time with family really is the best.

It's summertime and the living is easy.

I'm not even going to begin to make excuses for my lacking of posting around here.  It is certainly not because I don't have a cute subject to talk about.

I wish I could say it was because I have been too busy, but that isn't true.  Certainly, I could find 10 minutes to jot down the things that have been happening around here lately.  The truth is that I started to organize photos and make photo books and realized that I regret not blogging all summer because it is so hard to go back and remember all the little things that have happened.  So, I won't make any excuses, I will just say, it's good to be back.

Oh, and before I get too far into this, you are probably wondering if I will keep this blog and Chasing-life.net.  The answer is yes.  While there will be overlap, the purpose of this blog is more of a public journal for me to record the memories of life with children because, lets face it everyone knows that kids zap your memory.  It is also for the few relatives that look forward to seeing pictures and hearing about what Evan and I ate for lunch (Hi mom!).   Chasing Life is where Ashley and I love to talk about all things health related and I spill the joys and pains of the runner's life. So, you should just read them both.

OK, back to journaling blogging.  Which, by the way, is why I love to read blogs.  Its almost like you find someone's diary and are allowed to read it.  I am so nosy.

This week, Bill's sister and mom are in town to watch Evan today and tomorrow.  We are so happy they are here and he is able to spend lots of quality time with them.  I'll be sure to take pictures to share with you.

Lately, Evan has started becoming more of a toddler/kid and less of a baby.  Example 1: he tries to make his own breakfast.  Example 2: he talks in sentences and says things like "hippouptomous", "elphant", "monmower" etc.  The other day I was watching a show on Netflix when Evan started requesting Barney.  After several back and forths of me telling him no, he finally said: "Mote, I take it" while reaching for the remote.  I know you are not suppose to laugh at them, but good grief, how could I not.  Needless to say, we watched barney.

He also has developed quite the attachment to his Blank-A-Lets.  Generally he likes to carry around three of them when he is tired or riding in the car.

Has an adorable "say cheese" face.

Hates taking medicine:

The pharmacist told me to give him a Popsicle, then the medicine, then chocolate.  This picture was taken at 7:00 a.m.  For breakfast, Evan had a Popsicle, chocolate pudding, and no medicine.  FAIL!

Had his first haircut:

Can easily be bribed with ice cream:

This picture was taken after he stayed with my mom for 9 days and was mad at me for leaving him.  Ice cream makes everything better.

And prefers to be naked:

So there you have it. Evan's intro back into the blog world.  See you soon!

P.S. there are probably lots of typos in this post as I am trying to type fast before getting my hair cut, some thing else I have neglected all summer.  Please just ignore them. :)
