Destin day 2

Here is why a beach vacation is the perfect idea for families with babies -- people watching. Seriously, I put Evan in a pool with zero water and he sat in it for over an hour just watching people play in the sand. When he got bored with that, I rocked him to sleep to the sound of the waves. Seriously, i was able to read my book uninterrupted for 30 minutes. For those of you too far removed from babyhood, that is eternity and unheard of when we are back home.

We then played in the pool for a while, which Evan loved, until it was lunch/nap time. I thought since Evan took a nap earlier, his afternoon nap would be short. Two hours later he was still sleeping. Pack your bags Billy boy, we are moving to Destin.

Seriously, my child has not taken a nap that long in, well, ever. Sand + sun= one tired baby.

That pretty much sums up our second day in Destin. No makeup, no shoes and definitely no blow dryer. Doesn't get much better than this.

Taking a stroll

Here's the thing. I was going to complete one of my
30 under 30. I was going to run on the beach at sunrise. I promise. But then a sweet little boy looked at me with his big eyes and adorable smile, begging to go with me and I couldn't say no.

So I revised my plan. Instead of running, I would walk carrying a 15 lb weight. Trust me, I did not get off easy, but Evan and I had a great time sharing a little mommy and baby bonding time at 5:45 in the morning.

I love my little munchkin so much and it's moments like these that I realize just how lucky I am.

Destin day 1

We are having so much fun here at the beach. A rain storm came in this morning so we had no choice but to shop until we dropped at the Destin outlet mall. Evan really racked up at the Children's Place. Why are clothes so much cuter in mini size?

After the outlet mall, we decided to check out the beach and pool. To say Evan loved the beach would be a understatement. He has such a great time and is proving to be quite the waterbug.

So here it is 7:00 and we are sitting in our pjs, baby asleep, eating dinner and watching a movie. Beach vacations are the best!

Leaving on a jet plane

Well we are sitting here at the Dallas airport waiting for the second leg of our trip. So far things are going great.

The flight from OKC to Dallas departed at 6:00 am so it was an early morning for us. Unfortunately, Evan was the only one allowed to leave the house still wearing his PJs.

Evan did surprisingly well on the flight. I tried to nurse him on the takeoff to
help with pressure to his ears, but he would have none of it. He was so fascinated by the movement of the plane. I wish I could have taken a picture of how bigs his eyes got when we took off.

However, after the lights were turned off, it was back to the dairy farm to get full and sleep the entire 40 minute flight. He literally did not make a peep until the captain turned the overhead lights back on. Then it was more of a fuss as if to say turn the light off dude!

Even the couple behind us commented on how well he did on the trip. I'm just a little bit of a proud momma.

As a treat, we allowed Evan to sit in the big boy high chair at chilis. (actually, we had nowhere else to put him). Kid thinks he is a grown up. Seriously, it was hard to get him to eat breakfast because he was so excited about sitting up at the table with us. Will someone please tell him to stop growing up so fast!!

Pretend it's Saturday

And that I'm not one day behind in the thankfulness. The truth is things are pretty rough around here right now. Evans still has an ear infection plus now has a rash, I'm not feeling too hot myself, and we are suppose be leaving for Destin on Friday.

Sorry for the Debbie downer post but yesterday I was thankful for Tylenol. Without it I would really be up crap creek right now.

My job rocks!

Today is the perfect day for a thankful post. As I mentioned yesterday, Evan is fighting his first (and hopefully last) ear infection. I thought things were getting better because he doesn't act bothered by the whole ordeal except he runs a high fever and wakes up often at night. However I got the call today at 9:30 that Evan was running a fever and had to leave daycare.

Bill took off Tuesday and I hated for him to miss work again. I had a couple things to do at work today that could not wait until Monday, so I had no other choice, Evan was coming to work with me. This should be no surprise at all if you know the people I work with, but not only were they fine with him being there, but they played with him, babysat so I could work and were genuinely happy that he was there. I know I'm lucky and that could have been a stressful situation was made a lot easier just by knowing that I didn't have to worry about where he would go or who would watch him.

To top all that off, Evan was such a champ! Seriously he was so well behaved. I mean quieter than I am most days. Such a professional :).

I know when I don't feel good, I want to be at home in my bed and I hated that I couldn't make that happen for Evan today. But, I am so thankful that I work at a firm where family is welcome, unexpected events are understood and people genuinely understand that the life of a working parent is hard.

Here are a few pics: a little work, a little play, a lot of sleep under the desk.

Cheese please

Yes it's late. Yes I'm still thankful. I plan to post more about this later but this week will forever go down in history as Evan's ear week. You know the ones, where you look back and wonder exactly how you made it through. Anyway this post is not about ear infections or fever or sleepiness.

Nope this is a happy post about thankfulness for cheese. Crystal farms string cheese to be exact. I eat at least two of these every single day, mostly at my computer desk at 10:00am. OMG delicious. Better tab any other cheese stick ever.

A month of Thankfulness

It's here!! What you have all been waiting for. No not the Olympics, silly. Another 30 under 30 challenge -- a month of Thankfulness. Don't worry, I want be posting about lame stuff like sunrises or sleeping in on Saturdays. No this thankfulness will be real.

Today I'm thankful for leggings, specifically the fact that you can still wear leggings in the summer. A girl cannot be expect to shave every day! As a side note, I am also thankful for maxi dressed for this same reason.
